Assembly was a simple case of screwing on the handles and attaching the legs; we had it built in ten minutes. The beauty of the Go Anywhere is that, once assembled, you can fit pretty much everything you need inside and you’re ready to go - we’ve even seen examples of people modifying their grill racks to allow space for carrying a smoking chimney. You can fit your cooking equipment inside the Smokey Joe but there’s no doubt that the round dome takes up more boot space and is less convenient to carry.
We were impressed with how the Go Anywhere manages to maintain Weber’s high quality touches - such as the porcelain-enameled body and glass-reinforced nylon lid handles - whilst incorporating clever design touches like the plated steel legs which double up as a lid-lock. It’s a robust bit of kit with which we felt we really could go anywhere, so it’s not surprising to hear stories of people still cooking on Go Anywhere grills they bought decades ago - and it’s even more believable when you realise it comes with a 10 year warranty!
It’s incredibly versatile for cooking on too. The 160 sq. in. cooking area has enough space to fill up one side with charcoals and leave the other side for indirect cooking, allowing for plenty of culinary options; we’ve spoken to people who have cooked everything from sausages to whole chickens on it. The side and top air vents give plenty of control over temperature and all the food we cooked came out grilled to perfection.
The beauty of the Go Anywhere is that it really feels like you get the full Weber experience and quality in a small, portable package. Other than the obvious reduction in cooking area, we didn’t feel that we were compromising on anything by downsizing to the Go Anywhere.
We loved the Weber Go Anywhere. The Smokey Joe may be the obvious go-to option when it comes to Weber’s smaller offerings, but the Go Anywhere can’t be matched when it comes to charcoaled convenience.
